Advanced Urology Centers of New York (AUCNY), a Division of Integrated Medical Professionals was formed by community urologists committed to providing the highest level of medical service available. The doctors of AUCNY continue to practice in the neighborhoods they have been serving for years while affording them access to technology and services that are just not available to most medical groups. All AUCNY member physicians are board certified in their specialty and many have additional fellowship training as well. The physicians are on staff at the leading hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, are active in clinical and academic research, participate in postgraduate medical education and lecture nationally and internationally on cutting edge breakthroughs in medicine.

  • Andrew J. Chan, MD

    Urologist

    Dr. Chan was born in California and raised on Long Island, where he attended SUNY at Stony Brook graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in biochemistry and sociology. He went on to receive his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine where he developed an interest in the surgical subspecialty of urology while involved in a number of clinical research projects on benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dr. Chan then moved to Boston for a period of seven years and completed his residency program in urology at Boston University Medical Center, fostering skills in the management of erectile dysfunction, stone disease and urologic oncology. During his residency training, Dr. Chan worked at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and was involved in multiple laboratory projects investigating the relationship of genetic polymorphisms as they relate to the development of prostate cancer. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Chan furthered his training with a fellowship in endourology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, enhancing his techniques in minimally invasive surgery with ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, and laparoscopy. Upon completion of his fellowship, he was awarded second place in a national contest by the Endourological Society for work involving the evaluation blood flow to the kidney as it pertains to stone treatment with lithotripsy. Dr. Chan returned back to Long Island to practice urology, with special interests in managing stone disease and performing minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopic treatment of kidney cancer. He is currently a director for the medical advisory board of Allied Urological, which provides services of lithotripsy for kidney stones and treatment of prostate disease throughout Long Island and Manhattan. He also sits on the quality improvement committee for the Department of Urology at New Island Hospital to help ensure the best urologic care for the patients of its community.

  • Michael R. Dourmashkin, MD

    Urologist

    Michael R. Dourmashkin, MD has been practicing Urology since he completed his Urology Residency at the Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1988. He is Board Certified in Urology and completed his Re-Certification Examination in 2005 and 2015. His practice is in Bethpage in Nassau County. Current hospital affiliations include Northwell at Long Island Jewish, Manhasset, Plainview and St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage. He is on staff at Progressive Surgery Center in Farmingdale, and Kidney Stone Centers in Bethpage and New Hyde Park. Dr. Dourmashkin practices all fields of Urology including Urologic Oncology, Prostate Disease, Kidney Stone Disease, Urinary Incontinence, Male Infertility, Erectile Dysfunction, and Urinary Tract Infections. He will also see children with Urologic problems. After completing his Bachelor of Arts at Cornell University, he did post-graduate work at Columbia University before attending Medical School at the Sackler School of Medicine – New York State Program at Tel Aviv University in Israel.

  • Alfred D. Kohan, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Dr. Kohan graduated cum laude from University of California, Los Angeles in 1989. He earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine having received the Max Som scholarships in academic excellence for four consecutive years. He completed his residency in urology and urologic surgery in 1999 from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He was awarded the Pfizer scholars in urology award twice in 1997 and 1999 for his work on bladder aging and the associated pathologic alterations. Upon graduation, Dr. Kohan joined the faculty practice at Winthrop University Hospital, where he established and is the director of Winthrop Center for Bladder Health and Sexual Function, focusing on urinary incontinence, female sexual dysfunction, as well as other bladder disorders. He has expertise in evaluation and treatment of stress incontinence as well as neurologic induced bladder dysfunction. Dr. Kohan is one of the most experienced urologic surgeons on Long Island to perform Interstim Sacral Nerve Modulation for refractory overactive bladder and urinary retention and also with application of BOTOX in various urologic diseases. His other areas of interest are adult stone disease and minimally invasive treatment of urologic malignancies. Dr. Kohan entered private practice of urology in 2002 with Urology Institute of Long Island and is one of the founding members of Integrated Medical Professionals. He has widely presented at national and international urologic meetings and remains actively involved in urologic research. He has many publications in peer-reviewed literature and has co-authored a chapter in pediatric urologic emergencies. He continues to lecture regularly on various urologic diseases and is a consultant to several pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Kohan is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

  • Paul A. Peller, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Dr. Peller is the Section Chief of Urology at St. Joseph Hospital, Catholic Health System. Dr. Peller practices all facets of General Urology and has particular interests in Female Urology and Voiding Dysfunction, Kidney Stone Disease Management, Minimally Invasive Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and General Pediatric Urology. He was a founding member of Integrated Medical Professionals, PLLC in 2006 and has been practicing in Bethpage, NY since 1996.
